There’s something magical about rainy days — the soft light filtering through the windows, the sound of raindrops against the glass, and the way everyone naturally gathers a little closer together. While many families dream of outdoor photo sessions in golden sunlight, some of the most heartfelt, authentic portraits happen right at home on a rainy afternoon.
As a photographer, I’ve learned that home sessions are where families truly shine. There’s no need to worry about the weather, perfect hair, or muddy shoes. Instead, it’s all about connection — the laughter, the quiet cuddles, and the little in-between moments that define family life.
With Lauren and Luke’s lively crew, that cozy, connected energy was exactly what we captured. The morning was filled with laughter and movement — a sweet moment of play in the living room, the smell of French toast drifting from the kitchen as Luke and their oldest son cooked breakfast together, and a glimpse into a home that felt full of love and magic in every corner.
Lauren and I go way back, as the kids ate brunch, we couldn’t help but reminisce about our kindergarten days — the time our class walked to McDonald’s for a “green eggs and ham” adventure, and neither of us could bring ourselves to eat it. Seeing the printed photos of their two oldest, taken nearly a decade ago, made the day even more special. It was surreal realizing how much they’ve grown — the same smiles, just a lot taller.
This session was so special to me and I am so excited for these new photos to be displayed in their home and looked back on for another decade to come!
